Buying an Aircraft for the Mission You Fly

cover

Aircraft buyers often begin their search by comparing range, speed, payload, and cabin size. Those capabilities matter, but selecting an aircraft around occasional or hypothetical trips can introduce acquisition and operating costs that aren’t justified by the owner’s regular flying. Understanding actual travel patterns provides a more reliable foundation for evaluating aircraft.

In this episode of The Preflight Checklist, we discuss how to define an aircraft mission using the trips an owner expects to fly most frequently. From passenger loads and practical range to runway performance, operating expenses, and occasional missions that require additional capability, thoughtful aircraft selection begins with understanding how the airplane will actually be used.
